Homemade Chicken Nuggets
Crispy fried chicken nuggets made from ground chicken with homemade breadcrumb coating
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- cumin
- mustard powder
- 1 tsp salt
- pepper
- slices bread
- 2 eggs
- panko breadcrumbs
- high temperature oil
Instructions
- Take one pound of ground chicken and add garlic powder, cumin, mustard powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well, being generous with spices as some flavor gets lost during frying.
- Take a few slices of bread, cut off the crusts, and blend them into breadcrumbs using a blender or food processor.
- Add the breadcrumbs to the chicken mixture and mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Place the chicken mixture on an oiled cutting board and smooth it out into a sheet to your desired nugget thickness.
- Cut the chicken sheet into strips, then cut those strips into nugget-sized pieces.
- Shape each piece into individual nuggets by hand, oiling your hands as needed.
- Wash your hands thoroughly after handling raw chicken.
- Scramble 2 eggs in a bowl.
- Dip each chicken nugget in the egg mixture using a fork to avoid getting your hands too messy.
- Coat each egg-dipped nugget in a separate bowl of panko breadcrumbs, patting gently to ensure full coverage.
- Set coated nuggets aside on a plate.
- Heat high-temperature oil in a pan to medium or slightly below medium heat.
- Using tongs, carefully place nuggets into the hot oil.
- Fry for approximately 2 minutes on the first side until crispy and brown.
- Carefully flip each nugget away from you and fry the other side until crispy and brown.
- Ensure internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit for food safety.
- Transfer cooked nuggets to a wire rack to cool.
