Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or pork
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup onion
  • 1 egg
  • 0.5 tsp allspice
  • 0.5 tsp nutmeg
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 12 oz egg noodles or pasta shells
  • parsley

Instructions

  1. Combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, grated onion, egg, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Roll the mixture into small balls and brown them in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter and whisk in flour.
  4. Gradually add beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps and let the mixture simmer until thickened.
  5. Stir in sour cream to create a creamy sauce.
  6. Boil egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente, then drain.
  7. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked noodles with the creamy sauce.
  8. Transfer the noodle mixture into a greased baking dish and arrange the browned meatballs on top.
  9. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for 10 more minutes until bubbly and golden.
  11. Sprinkle fresh parsley on top and serve warm.
