Easy Sini Mante
These delicious Turkish-style dumplings are surprisingly easy to make using wonton wrappers as a shortcut. Crispy baked beef-filled mantes are served with your choice of tangy tomato sauce or creamy garlic yogurt for an impressive appetizer that comes together quickly.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion
- 1.5 tsp kosher salt
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Aleppo pepper
- fresh parsley
- 1 package wonton wrappers
- olive oil
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 Tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp pepper paste
- 1 tsp salt
- 1.5 tsp dried mint
- 1 cup water or chicken stock
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- Grate the onion and squeeze out any excess liquid. Add to the ground beef.
- Chop parsley and add to bowl along with the salt, black pepper, and Aleppo pepper. Mix well and set aside.
- Cut wonton wrappers into 4 equal squares.
- Lay them out and add a small amount of the beef mixture to the center of each square.
- Pinch both ends together to make a tiny canoe shape.
- Place in a well oiled baking dish.
- Drizzle the top with more olive oil.
- Bake in a preheated oven set to 375°F (use convection setting if available) for 30 minutes or until top looks crispy.
- While baking, prepare yogurt sauce by mixing yogurt, crushed garlic, and salt.
- Prepare tomato sauce by mixing olive oil, tomato paste, pepper paste, salt, dried mint, and water or chicken stock.
- Serve mantes with the tomato sauce or dip into the garlicky yogurt.
