Spicy Garlic Beef Stir-Fry

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 3 green onions
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 0.5 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Combine beef with 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp cornstarch, and 1 tsp sesame oil. Let marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Whisk together 0.25 cup soy sauce, 2 tbsp oyster sauce, 1 tbsp rice vinegar, 1 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes, 0.5 cup beef broth, and 1 tsp cornstarch. Set aside.
  3. Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Stir-fry beef for 3–4 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. Add remaining oil to the skillet. Stir-fry red bell peppers and green onions for 3–4 minutes until slightly tender. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  5. Return beef to the skillet. Pour in the sauce. Stir and cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats everything.
  6. Sprinkle with extra chopped green onions if desired. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
