Real Beef Stroganoff
This authentic Russian beef stroganoff features tender sirloin steak, earthy mushrooms, and creamy sour cream sauce finished with a touch of mustard. Ingredients
- 2.5 lb sirloin steak
- 24 oz mushrooms
- 2 onions
- 1.125 cup sour cream
- 0.25 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp mustard
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1.75 cup beef broth
- butter
- oil
- salt
- black pepper
Instructions
- Sear beef in batches on high heat, then remove.
- Cook mushrooms until browned, remove.
- Cook onions until soft and golden.
- Add flour, then slowly add broth and mustard.
- Lower heat and mix in sour cream and heavy cream.
- Add beef and mushrooms back in.
- Simmer a few minutes and serve with mashed potatoes or buckwheat.
