Created by Lindsay Ostrom, these pizza burgers are a mindlessly easy family favorite that combines crispy garlic-buttered English muffins with savory seasoned meat sauce and melted cheese. Perfect for busy weeknights and ideal for meal prep, these burgers can be frozen and reheated in minutes, making them a practical solution for quick dinners or grab-and-go meals.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
- 1 lb ground turkey, chicken, or Italian sausage
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
- 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
- 0.5 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1.5 cups marinara sauce
- 0.5 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 0.5 cup chopped pepperoncini
- 6 English muffin halves
- 0.5 cup salted butter, melted
- 1 clove garlic
- 1.5 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese
- 0.5 cup finely grated Parmesan
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large skillet. Brown the meat. Add garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and salt. Add the tomato sauce and stir to combine. Remove from heat and stir in the cheese.
- Mix the melted butter and garlic. Place English muffins face-up on a sheet pan. Brush with the garlic butter mixture.
- Put a few spoonfuls of the meat mixture on top of the English muffins. Cover each one with shredded Mozzarella, then a pinch of grated Parmesan.
- Place on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 5-7 minutes, and then broil as needed to get the cheese melted and browned. You can also air fry at 350 degrees for 4-5 minutes, until golden brown and slightly crisped.
- For freezing: Place individual pizza burgers on a plate or small baking sheet lined with parchment and tuck it into the freezer. When they are solid, you can put them into a bag or container together. To reheat, air fry at 350 degrees for 6-8 minutes to get them warmed and crispy.
