Spicy North African Fish Stew
Hearty fish stew with a Spicy North African Twist, packed with the warmth of cumin, coriander, and chilies, and the brightness of preserved lemons.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Fish (halibut or cod)
- 0.25 cup Olive oil
- 1 Onion
- 3 Garlic
- 1 teaspoon Cumin
- 0.5 teaspoon Coriander
- 0.25 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
- 2 tablespoons Chermoula
- 2 tablespoons Preserved lemons
- 1 can Tomatoes
- 2 cups Fish broth
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add garlic, cumin, coriander, and cayenne pepper to the pot. Cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.
- Add Chermoula, preserved lemons, and diced tomatoes to the pot. Cook for 2 minutes, until heated through.
- Add fish broth, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add fish pieces to the pot and cook for 5-7 minutes, until cooked through.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley or cilantro, if desired.
