MyHealthyDish shares a clever shortcut for making restaurant-quality shrimp rice rolls at home using rice paper instead of making rice flour wraps from scratch. This simple yet elegant dim sum appetizer features tender shrimp wrapped with fresh green onions, steamed until delicate, and served with a savory sauce infused with soy, oyster, and sesame flavors.

Ingredients

  • 8 sheets rice paper
  • 24 shrimp
  • 0.5 cup green onions
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 0.5 tbsp sesame oil
  • 0.5 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 0.5 tbsp chili oil

Instructions

  1. Add three shrimp and some chopped green onions to the center of each rice paper sheet
  2. Fold in one corner of the rice paper, then fold in the opposite corner tightly
  3. Wrap the rice paper as tightly as possible around the filling
  4. Brush both sides of each wrapped roll lightly with oil to prevent sticking during steaming
  5. Place rolls in a steamer basket, cover with a lid, and steam for about 8 minutes
  6. While rolls are steaming, prepare the sauce by whisking together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and water
  7. Add a drizzle of chili oil to the sauce
  8. Serve the steamed rice rolls with the sauce for dipping
