Lebanese Garlic Sauce (Toum)
Hermann shows you how to make authentic Lebanese garlic sauce (toum) in under a minute using an immersion blender. This fluffy, creamy condiment uses just 4 ingredients and an emulsification technique to transform garlic into a luxurious sauce perfect for sandwiches, grilled meats, and more.
Ingredients
- 1 bulb garlic
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 cup neutral oil
- 3 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp cold water
Instructions
- Add garlic, salt, neutral oil, lemon juice, and cold water to a blender or immersion blender container.
- Place the immersion blender on the bottom of the container and turn it on.
- Allow the garlic to begin emulsifying as it sucks in small amounts of oil.
- Slowly incorporate more and more oil while blending, listening for the sound to change as the mixture thickens.
- Once thickened, lift the blender to work in the remaining oil until fully combined.
- Transfer to a serving container and enjoy.
